A traveling wave tube (TWT) is a microwave electron tube that relies on the speed of continuously modulated electron injection to achieve the amplification function. It is widely used today as a core device for microwave power amplification in the fields of radar, electronic countermeasures, and communications. The main tube shell, clamping rod, and spiral wire is composed of the traveling wave tube. In addition to fixing the spiral wire, the main role of the clamping rod is to facilitate the loading and unloading of the spiral wire, to improve the efficiency and reliability of the traveling wave tube, which is very important is to transferring the heat generated by the spiral wire work through the clamping rod to the shell as soon as possible and emitted. The ideal clamping rod should have the following characteristics: the material itself should have good air tightness, high purity, excellent thermal conductivity, low dielectric loss at high frequency and high temperature, high-temperature resistance and thermal shock resistance, and good machinability. PBN clamping rod is designed and made for the above problems, which is well received by users.

Pyrolytic Boron Nitride (PBN) ceramic is widely used in the electronics industry because of its high-temperature stability, high insulation, and low dielectric loss, for example, as an insulating substrate and heat sink for microwave devices. Among them, pyrolytic boron nitride is used in traveling wave tubes mainly because of its high thermal conductivity and good insulation properties, both of which are ideal for the fabrication of high-power microwave devices.

A traveling wave tube is a microwave amplifier that is used to enhance the strength of microwave signals. In a traveling wave tube, electrons are emitted from the cathode, accelerated by the accelerating electrode, and then enter the hollow metal tube of the traveling wave tube. As the electrons pass through this tube, they excite microwave signals, which are continuously enhanced within the tube and eventually output through the exit of the traveling wave tube.

Because of the high power of the microwave signals generated in the traveling wave tube, good insulation materials are required to ensure the stability and reliability of the electronics. Pyrolytic boron nitride has high thermal conductivity and good insulation properties, which can effectively dissipate heat and protect electronic devices. In addition, pyrolytic boron nitride has good corrosion resistance and can prevent metal evaporation from contamination and damage to the device inside the tube. Therefore, pyrolytic boron nitride is widely used in microwave devices such as traveling wave tubes, which improves the efficiency and reliability of the devices.
